This study investigates patterns of social media use and their influence on psychological well-being and academic success among university students. The rapid expansion of online social networking platforms has transformed students’ daily routines, raising concerns about excessive use and its potential consequences. A descriptive research design was employed, and data were collected from 300 students enrolled in public universities in Faisalabad through a structured questionnaire. The instrument measured social media usage behaviors, psychological well-being indicators (stress, anxiety, and loneliness), and academic performance. Data were analyzed using SPSS, applying descriptive statistics, t-tests, ANOVA, and regression analysis. The findings indicate that excessive social media use is significantly associated with higher levels of psychological distress and lower academic concentration and achievement. Students reporting heavy usage also experienced increased feelings of loneliness and social isolation. The study underscores the importance of promoting balanced digital engagement and institutional interventions to enhance students’ mental well-being and academic success in the contemporary digital environment.
